Ambassador Cruise Line is a brand-new British cruise line and the first to be launched since 2010. Its first ship, Ambience, will enter service in April 2022 She carries up to 1,400 guests in 798 cabins but already Ambassador have announced the purchase of a second ship, Ambition, highlighting their confidence in the UK market and the cruise sector. Ambassador is based in Purfleet, Essex.
The 1,200-passenger vessel has been purchased from Costa. Originally built in 1999 she preciously sailed under the name of AidaMira. Now named Ambition she will undergo the same extensive upgrading as sister ship Ambience before joining the fleet in 2023. At present with 714 cabins just 125 of which have balconies it will be interesting to see how she is upgraded for the new fleet.
One thing that will definitely be upgraded are her eco – credentials with the installation of the newest emission reduction technologies. These, along with the updated ballast and sewage water treatment systems will allow both Ambassador to join the elite group of ships authorised to sail in environmentally protected areas.
Ambition will join Ambience offering ex-UK sailings with a “premium-value, authentic cruise experience” , to the 50+ age group who value a no – fly experience. Ambassador offers departure options from London Tilbury and six regional departure ports.
Chief executive Christian Verhounig said: “We are delighted with the warm reception given to the introduction of Ambassador to the market – a new brand, proposition and our first ship.” At present Ambassador have various offers on their cruises including reductions on drinks packages.
