Balmoral, Boosters and Babies with Fred Olsen

Borealis at sea

A little bit of news regarding updates on Balmoral, Boosters and Babies with Fred Olsen coming out of CLIA this morning.

Firstly the much loved Balmoral will be returning to service in Newcastle on 2nd May with a 16 night Canaries and Portugal itinerary featuring the Funchal Flower parade. She will then be based in Rosyth for the summer season. Fred Olsen are popular for having a range of departure points around the UK – more than anyone else at present with seven home ports around the UK. Sadly however, we hear news that the ever popular Braemar will not return to service until Spring 2023.

In a change of Policy it is announced that, with immediate effect, all adult guests joining Fred Olsen cruises will now have to have had a Covid Booster (ie be triple vaccinated) within a week of departure. The only exception would. be that they are still within 3 months of their second dose and therefore not yet eligible.

Finally – although Fred aren’t generally thought of as a family line, some children do cruise with their family groups. Here the policy on children onboard is changing too. From the 1st April 2022 no under 2s will be able to sail at all. 2 – 11 year olds will only be able to join cruises with less than 72 continuous hours at sea. 12 – 17 year olds each need to be accompanied by an adult.

I have a feeling that most of these changes will be very popular with their core customers so well done to Fred. Olsen for making a decision on these things. They have lots of offers on cruises at the moment including some offers for Solo Travellers so check them all out here

We love Fred Olsen – they are definitely always worth considering for a no fly cruise from the UK. Take a look at our video below…
